The grumblings of hardy Minnesotans can be heard far and wide. We love our state, but winter has overstayed its welcome this year. This morning I went outside to fill the bird feeders (they are hungry little music boxes!), and was greeted by a snow shower. My first reaction was, “Noooooo! It’s almost May for crying out loud!” (” For crying out loud” was a favorite expression of my mother’s. I have never heard anybody say, “For crying in silence!” It just doesn’t have that ring of dismay.)
But then I realized I rather like Minnesota’s moods. It might snow this morning and be 70 degrees tomorrow. No excuses, no what-should-I-do’s, no what-will-South Dakota-think? Nope, Minnesota does things on her on schedule. I only wish I was that saucy, for crying out loud. Snow pelting my face…it was the best part of my day.
