The temperature was not exactly warm todayabout 10 degrees less than averagebut the sun was at least shining. After finishing some work and pesky chores, I decided to sneak outside and absorb a little Vitamin D. Booker was sleeping in the garage, and I wanted to keep it that way. As much as I adore him, he tends to get a bit pushy when he wants attention. And he wants attention all of the time. My goal was to stretch out on the chaise lounge and close my eyes. I wanted to enjoy the birds singing and the sound of water splashing over rocks. Ahhh
Then I heard a rustling sound. I saw him coming in horrific slow motion. Blue eyes had locked onto me and his pink tongue was flopping. My lips form an ooo. The n deserted me. Booker was making gravity-defying leaps and bounds. He cleared the top of a shrub like a pole-vaulter, flattened a blooming iris on the landing, narrowly missed a rake leaning against a planter, and launched himself at me on the lounge. His front paws hit my stomach like a bowling ball hitting a bean bag chair. Whooshall air went out of me. Booker, nooo! was all that squeaked from my airless lungs. He jabbed his face into mine and let the licking commence. I think I got a little sun, but I got a whole lot of puppy saliva, and it was the best part of my day.
