I received a long awaited email this morning from a friend who has been going through challenging times. Her humor, laced throughout the text, assured me that she is doing fine despite the hellish summer she has experienced. Sometimes, even when a person is strong and extraordinary in most areas of life, there comes a breaking point, and my friend was far too close to that point. I want to cheer her and support her, but on many levels this is a place she has to heal from on her own terms and in her own time. When she comes through it all, and she will, I’ll be there. For now, as she cautiously emerges from her experiences, I rejoice in her contact. She’s starting to reflect and share, and it was the best part of my day.
