Think how quickly the sheer volume and multiplicity of sensory information we receive every waking minute would overwhelm our consciousness if we couldn’t quickly forget a great deal more of it than we remember.”

I snorted with a little too much recognition. Even in the digital age my battery runs out of juice somedays or I forget to put the memory card in the camera. But eventually the important stuff comes back, and life goes on.
