Colorful Confessions: What Long-held Story Or Sentiment Are You Ready To Share?

June 15, 2016 By Gail Leave a Comment

In confession…we open our lives to the healing, reconciling, restoring, uplifting grace of him who loves us in spite of what we are.

Colored by my daughter, and used as my Mother’s Day Card

“Raise some hell.” Thus was the ending line of my mother’s day card from my beloved and thoughtful daughter. Her note was handwritten in an assortment of colored pencils. Why? Because she’s good at themes, because she had downloaded my online coloring book, and because she had used one of the coloring book pages as the basis of her card. I loved it.

With her permission I am sharing her words here:

Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you for teaching me to SCREW PERMISSION,

For teaching me to Ask For What I Want,

And if I hear “NO,” then to Get It Anyway!

Thanks for teaching me to listen to the quiet, Creative

Voice inside,

And to share it with those I LOVE.

You are an amazing person, and I love you dearly.

 Raise Some Hell.

 Love,

Sasha

Pretty sweet, right? As I pondered my next coloring book, I knew I wanted something that would be different than the myriad of wonderful books already on the market. What would be the love child of creative expression (coloring), and creative expression (verbal)?

My daughter and her husband suggested I put together a coloring book that could be a launching pad for notes, cards, and well, confessions. “Tell me what it’s like to grow older!” said my daughter. “Tell me secrets and stories and send them to me.”

And so, with some help from Wallace Carlson Printing, and Amy, Matt, and Liz at Campfire Marketing, my new hardcopy coloring book is in the birthing chair. The labor pains are pretty much over, and delivery is soon at hand!  Woot! Woot!

The new coloring book, “Colorful Confessions! Cards, Letters, and Envelopes For ‘Read’ Letter Days” contains 5 “letter” pages to get you started on meaningful letters. There are also 3 cards. The cards are on actual cardstock. Pretty cool, eh? AND, there are 3 envelopes for you to color—inside and out–cut out, and assemble. Your artwork, sentiments, and stories will dazzle whoever, whomever?, are lucky enough to receive them.

As soon as I get them—maybe this week– the coloring books will be at:

—WillowBridge in Isanti

—North Folk Winery

— At my art fair booth during the summer. Right now that schedule includes:

–Rosemount Art & Book Fair (June 18)

–The Ely Blueberry Festival (July 29-31)

–The Rush City Art and Music Festival (Aug. 20)

–Marine Art Fair at the Marine on the St. Croix (Sept. 17 & 18)

–Arts and Crafts At The Track, Running Aces, (Oct. 8)

— Bountiful Boutiques, Chucker’s Spare Room, Rush City, (Nov. 4-6).

I will update as I add other venues!

Or, if you really, really want one but can’t make it to those venues let me know and I can send one to you. The cost will be $10 plus tax and shipping. If you think about it, how much do you spend on a pre-made, anyone, anywhere, can-buy-them, greeting card? Probably $3-$6, right?  The cards, letters, and envelopes you color and create will be one of a kind and priceless! These are the cards, letters, and stories that get saved and handed down with sighs and love. Just saying.

Maybe you, too, can raise some hell in a most colorful way!
